Contact lens Care and Wear
Care and Wear

Contacts are a great alternative to glasses but must be worn properly. You must always follow the manufacturers recommendations as well as your doctors recommendations for replacment and duration of daily wear. Never overwear your contact lenses (max 12 hours/day) and dont keep them longer than the recommended replacment time. You should never sleep in your contacts and replace the storing solution every day. Cases should be replaced monthly. Overwearing contacts can lead to eye infections and ulcers so always follow your doctors wearing recommendations to maintain your eyes health.

Thniking about wearing contact lenses for the first time. Here's what to expect.

Contact lens wear starts with a complete eye exam to make sure your eyes are healthy and to determine your prescription for your contacts.

A "trial" contact lens will be ordered based on your prescription and curvature of your eyes. If you have not worn contacts before, we will set aside time with you to teach you how to put them in your eyes safely. We also come up with a wearing schedule together.

Once you are comfortable taking the contacts in and out of your eyes, we check the fit of the contacts to make sure they are centered and not too tight.

The trail lens is worn for 1 week to see if you like it. When you return for your recheck we evaluate the fit of the contacts on your eyes and make sure you are comfortable with your vision and feel of the contacts. If you are happy then you can order your contact lens supply. If you are not comfortable, then we try a different trial lens and do another 1 week trial period.

Contact Lenses are a great alternative to glasses but they should never be abused.

They are great for kids who need sharp vision for sports and other activities as well as adults who dont want the feeling of glasses on their face. For those with really strong prescriptions, contacts can be much more comfortable and give you sharper vision.

Now a days almost any prescrition can be fit for contacts lenses. High amounts of astigmatism can be corrected with toric contacts. Multifocal contacts are great for those over 40 years who want good distance and near vision.

You should never have contacts alone. You should always have a pair of glasses as a backup for times you cant wear your contacts or at the end of the day when you have to remove your contacts.
